Crime in Austin

Introduction

Austin is the Capital city of Texas and the largest city of Travis County, and the fourth-most-populous city in Texas, Whether you’re visiting Austin on a business trip or on vacation, it’s important to be aware of crime statistics.

I used data from austintexas.gov for 2015–2018 Annual Crime data to investigate the city of Austin, so the first question I will answer using this data is what year has the most crimes

Part I: What Year Have The Most Crime Rate?

Here you can see the rate of crime by year we can see that 2018 has the highest crime rate.

murder increased in 2018 by 28%, Robbery increased by 4.39%, Theft increased by 8.92% but Rape decreased by 0.86% and Aggravated Assault decreased by 8.24%

Part III: what districts have the most crimes?

Austin has 10 council districts

Here you can see the rate of crimes in each district,

as you can see district 9 has more crime than others most theft and rape happened in that district as you can see from the table below

Conclusion

In this article, we took a look at crime in Austin from 2015 to 2018

  1. We identified which year had the most crimes and what was the increase and decrease in the crimes, and we found out that 2018 had the most crime.
  2. then We take a look at what are the most committed crimes.
  3. Finally, we identified what districts have the most crimes. We found that districts 9, 4, and 3 are in the top three.

The findings here are observational, not the result of a formal study.
